Your wedding florist can work some incredible magic on the flowers for your big day, but there are some things he or she simply can’t do. Here are three things your wedding florist probably won’t be able to pull off (as much as we all wish we could).
1. We can’t read your mind.
As much as we wish we could (because that would be so much easier for everyone involved), we can’t read your mind. That’s why it’s crucial to have a clear vision of what you want–and don’t want–your flowers to look like when you come in for your consultation. Inspiration photos are always beneficial! You can never provide your florist with too much detail; however, providing little to none can result in disappointment for you both. Ideally, you’ll want to know flower preferences, a definite color palette (and have sample swatches), a list of floral arrangements needed for the wedding party, ceremony, and/or reception, and an general ballpark figure of what you’re comfortable spending prior to booking your consultation. At the very least, you should be able to convey the colors, shapes, style, and textures you’re drawn to. From there, we are happy to walk you through creating the perfect arrangements for your big day.
2. We can’t do “bippity, boppity, bloom!”
Instant flowers with extremely short or day-of notice? Sorry, it’s just not possible. Like any other wedding professional, we need time to create the final product, yet you may be surprised to hear the number of calls and emails we receive from last-minute brides stressed that they do not have their wedding florist booked…and the wedding is next weekend! There is more that goes in to creating your bouquets and centerpieces than simply pulling together a variety of blooms. Flowers and other materials to need ordered then assembled and finished products need inspected and packaged. There is a great deal of care and time invested in doing so to maintain the high standards in quality and service that we promise our couples. While we do try to accommodate rush orders on weddings whenever possible, we cannot guarantee our availability, particularly during busy wedding seasons, and always encourage you to book your florist as soon as you’re ready. We recommend booking us at least six to nine months out, much earlier if you’re marrying on a popular date.
We can’t work miracles.
…or rather, we can’t create flowers that simply don’t exist. Yes, there are many silk options that are available year-round and in colors that you won’t find with natural flowers; however, we can’t actually produce blooms that we don’t have access to ourselves. (Boy, it would sure be nice if “bippity, boppity, bloom” worked!) Sunflowers in that trademarked Tiffany Blue? A must-have flower that you want in Real Touch but only comes in silk? Not happening. While it’s fun to dream up incredible color combinations or unusual flowers that you’ve spotted on Pinterest, take a moment to do some research into whether your dreams can become reality before you get your heart too set on a specific look.
