Pantone Names Ultra Violet as Color of the Year 2018

Not since 2014 when Pantone named Radiant Orchid its Color of the Year has the wedding world been punched with purple, but it’s about to get another pop of it with 2018’s Ultra Violet. This color is described by Pantone as “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade…[that] communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future.” We say that’s exactly what makes it perfect for this year’s brides-to-be and their blooms!

According to Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, “Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of…Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.” She adds, “The complex and deep nature of the color is well-suited for beauty looks created by combinations, blends, and ombres,” all of which can be tied into weddings through the use of monochromatic florals and hints of metallics and sparkling accents.

Taken in a variety of directions, 2018’s Color of the Year will certainly prove to be a jaw-dropping, eye-catching hue. Whether you incorporate it traditionally for timeless elegance or pair it with modern touches for an unexpected boldness, this it-color will definitely invite bold bouquets that can be tweaked to go from vibrant to sophisticated with the inclusion of elements like of natural jewel tones, textures, and florals.
