You don’t have to venture far to score the look of a waterside wedding. Integrating a few essential beach blooms and tropical greenery can quickly transform your florals. Sail into your new life together with one of 2017’s upcoming trends that blends coastal colors with tropical greenery.
The Flowers
It’s a breeze to bring in “something blue” when you pick flowers in shades of aqua, turquoise, and teal. Phalaenopsis orchids are available in these shades and are a beautiful way to create the coastal feel you’re aiming for. Add in Phalaenopsis orchid leaf sprays, Areca or Phoenix palms, Monstera leaves, or Asplenium ferns for the perfect amount of tropical greens.
The Colors
Turn your eyes to the sea and sky for the ideal shades of blue and green. You can even draw inspiration from the color palette recommended in our blog post 2017 Wedding Flower Trends: Forces of Nature, which is another popular trend for this year. We recommend Pacific Blue, turquoise, teal, and aqua paired with beach-inspired shades like taupe, off-white, sand, silver, or beige. If you really want to be on-trend, why not tie in Greenery, Pantone’s Color of the Year 2017.
The Decor
Centerpieces can include glass vases in made from a colored (clear or frosted) glass or an assortment of colored vintage glasses, again in shades of aqua, turquoise, or cobalt blue. Accent with sand, pearls, seashells, driftwood, starfish, candles in frosted votive holders, colored sea glass, or assorted glass gem filler. Create a balance with your blooms by pulling in a few palm leaves. Large banana leaves and Monstera leaves make excellent table runners.
The Feeling
The feel of a coastal wedding should be airy, easy-going, casual, and cohesive. A monochromatic color palette is ideal to carry through from your wedding party flowers to your ceremony arrangements and reception decor.
